my first day at the kern center front desk...its really boring, 4 people have come in since 6:15 this morning.  But its been nice, because we don't want to pay for internet in our apartment for the summer so I've been efficiently killing time by checking email, reading xangas, etc.  Its not the most exciting work, but its work.

Well it was good to be back home  for a bit, but its nice to be back here too.  Our apartment is finally rid of everyone else's things that we were storing.  So now, with the furniture that I brought back from home, I feel like we'll finally be able to settle into the place.  I thought it would be really weird, living out here for the summer and stuff...but I don't know, it seems like the transition went really well.  I never even thought I would be out here, but with Maureen here, and a job waiting for me at the Kern center, it just worked out better...and it is working out, very well so far.  It really made me miss summers in high school when I was home this past weekend though.  But then I remind myself that even if I was home for the summer, it wouldn't be like that, because so many people are staying in their respective places as well.

Man, Brenna I know exactly what you're talking about when you say that money is way too important to you right now.  If I look at my situation, it just looks really bad.  Like, I'll be able to pay everything, its just a matter of how much I have to put on my credit card.  I always heard warnings from people "don't get yourself into debt with your credit card", and I was always like, who would be stupid enough to spend money they don't have??  Well, I'm realizing now that sometimes you just don't have a choice, and you can tell yourself that you'll just pay it with your next paycheck, that you might not have the funds you need right now, but you'll get them soon.  Oh well...I'm not really freaking out, becuase I konw God will take care of it, but it is still a little scary.

well everyone, this guy is gonna go, and do some more nothing at the Kern center front desk....maybe I'll find a fun game to play online!  I hope all of your summers are going great so far!

Sooo honestly I don't really feel like writing in here because I have other stuff I should be doing but I feel like I owe it to everyone to update my summer plans.  Originally, I was plannning on finding an internship in the cities...but then...that didn't happen.  So then I was like, what should I do for a job?  Well, I couldn't really get an internship out here either because I thought I was going to be back home so I never applied for anything out here and now its kind of too late.  So, best option left: work at the Kern Center ice arena here at school.  Its not the best summer job, by any means (about $7/hour and maybe 25 hours a week) but its a job...and judging by past experience it wouldn't be all that easy to find a job back home.  Also, I don't really want to live with the 'rents for another summer...we're just getting to that age, you know?  Well, I will be paying rent on our apartment out here regardless if I'm actually living in it this summer or not, and wiht the job thing, it just makes more sense to stay out here.  There is another reason that I'm staying out here...probably the biggest reason, if I'm really honest with myself....my girlfriend will be out here this summer.  Some of you may have heard, but for those who don't know, her name is Maureen and she is from Puerto Rico.  She speaks close to flawless english, with only a slight accent.  She's a biomedical engineering major, which, if you can't tell by the name, is the hardest major here at MSOE.  She is a strong Christian, with a heart for God and his purposes.  We've only been "official" for 5 days, and since this is 10th week and next week is finals week, we're really bogged down with school right now.  I'm really looking forward to spending time with her and just growing closer together over the summer.  So thats the plan all, I'll be coming home Thursday, June 1st, and probably staying throught the weekend, and I'm sure I'll be back to visit at least once a month.  So if I don't see some of you this summer, I hope you have a good one!!

I only clicked in this box once this time!  haha, I guess I'm learning...

I just made a couple photo albums on facebook, and when I was going through the pictures of everyone from back home I realized how much I miss you guys!  We had so many good times...we did so much dumb stuff...oh man, those were awesome times though.  Thanks for all the memories everyone.

The broomball tournament is this weekend!  I'm pumped, we're gonna win it all!  The intramural hockey tournament was last weekend.  Man, the only way to get in hockey shape is to play hockey.  I knew we'd have to play two games, so I was trying to get in shape a bit, but I wasn't even close....I was so dead only half-way through the first game.  And then for the second game, three of our guys didn't show up, so we had four skaters and were forced to play three on three.  We tied for third out of four teams, but it was a blast.

Its official, we signed our lease last night.  We'll be able to move in before our lease starts too, which is really nice because we have to be out of the dorms by May 27, and our lease doesn't start until June 1.

I'm going to the frozen four skills competition tonight!   Its gonna be sweet, because a guy from our team is in it!  Or he's an alternate or something, I don't remember exactly how it goes...

Well, I suppose I should start this wonderful Friday.....farewell to you all, I hope you have a fun weekend!

P.S.  I'll be home for Easter and the entire week after, so give me a call if you're in town!

Does anyone ever get mad when they start one of these because that flashing cursor thing never appears in this little text box?  I swear, every time I start a blog, I click in this box about five times before I remember that I just need to start typing, that I don't have to wait for the little blinking cursor to type.  Perhaps a sign that I should post more often.  Greg is right, I don't post enough anymore.  I'm sorry Greg, I am.  I appreciate your loyalty to this site and to all of us in your commitment to post so frequently.  I think if we were all so disciplined in our xanga posting habits as Greg (and Joe and Brenna, as Greg pointed out) the xanga world would be a better place.

So yesterday, no wait, yeah, yesterday I went on a scavenger hunt around Milwaukee.  It was through the school, part of St. Pat's weekend.  We actually came pretty close to winning $500!  We only had to find one more clue and then proceed to the final location to claim our prize (and we already knew where that was).  But we didn't make it...turns out there were three groups (that we know of) that were ahead of us.  And get this, the team that won was part of a fraternity, and they had 28 people working together (there was no limit to how many people could be on a team) Twenty-eight!!  And they all had bikes and mopeds and stuff, all scooting around the city looking for these clues.  Oh well, it was still fun.  And then we walked around the town for a while, went to cousins, a humongous used book store, and finished off the day with a good watching of Shanghai Noon.  We even got some volleyball/basketball action in on the day.  It was one of the most well-rounded, purposeful, and overall enjoyable Saturday's I've had in a long time.

I'm pretty psyched about living in an apartment next year.  I'm not totally committed yet, like the desicion isn't final, but its pretty close.  I'll be living with three guys from the hockey team, who are some of my closest friends here.  It's gonna be a blast.  It's close to campus (like across the street from one of the buildings, and our campus is only like 5 buildings), and its pretty darn reasonable too, $1160 (excluding elec. and gas) a month for a four bedroom.  I haven't seen it becuase I was kind of undecided when the other guys were hunting, but apparently it has hard wood floors and a newly re-done kitchen and bathroom, I think.  Sweet.

I need to go to the grocery store.  I hope everyone is doing very well in their respective situations, I really do.  Have a wonderful week everyone.

Well I'm back, in Milwaukee that is.  Break went by fast.  I'll be home again for Easter and the week after....the six weeks between now and then will go by fast.....that break will go by fast too, and the remainder of the quarter after that break will go by fast....and then summer will go by fast.....the rest of my college education will go by fast....my kids' childhood's will go by fast.....kind of depressing if you dwell on it huh?  I guess we just have to live in the moment.

new classes, yay....this quarter shouldn't be too bad, a little physics, some probability and statistics, some construction estimating, a fluid mechanics class, and electrical circuits.  I might come back this weekend for the hockey tournament...I want to, but I told this lady that I would help greet/escort at the scholarship weekend this Saturday.

Have you guys played the Caribou game online?  You get a code on the cup when you buy your drink, and when you enter it on the website, you get to play a game.  Its a lot like Plinko, with only a few pegs between your coffee bean and teh coffee cup.  If you get the bean in the cup, you win a song from iTunes, or something, maybe a drink, I don't know because I've never won because its stinking impossible! I've tried it three times, and the game is just ridiculous.  The bean constantly defies the laws of physics on its way down, and its just maddening!  So, try your luck if you want, and if you win, you're a better bean dropper than I.
